What conditions can acupuncture treat?

The World Health Organization (WHO) formally recognises the use of Acupuncture as beneficial in the treatment of the following conditions. Below you will see a list of the conditions mentioned in ‘Acupuncture: Review and Analysis of Reports on Controlled Clinical Trials’, by the World Health Organization, Geneva, 2002:

As you will no doubt notice, this list is now more than a decade old. Many (many) clinical trials on Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, have been performed after this date. This means, of course, that it is much of the evidence confirming efficiency in treating conditions is not actually listed below. There are many conditions that there is either new evidence or documented clinical efficiency that are not listed here.

If you have questions about a condition not listed below, you are most welcome to contact me (through the ‘contact’ page) so your specific situation may be addressed.

Also please note: for some of these conditions, I would expect (and I will ask) that you be under the care and have regular check ups with your primary medical practitioner (GP).
