Oncology and Cancer Support

Cancer is one of the epidemic conditions of our age: a disease of modern civilisation affecting approximately 2 in 5 of us over a lifetime.

Acupuncture is utilised in hospitals in many countries (except Australia, unfortunately) and most of these will use acupuncture extensively for treatment in conjunction with chemotherapy and radiation to reduce many of the more common side effects.

There are some conditions for which Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can be primary methods of treatment. Cancer and Oncology care are not conditions of this nature. However what we can be fantastic for are many of the considerable issues associated with western medical treatment (chemotherapy and radiotherapy), supporting the body and mind in a time of considerable stress. Acupuncture is recommended by the top ranked Mayo clinic and National Institute of Health (in America) for these purposes, among many others.

I am currently completing an international post graduate diploma in Oncology Acupuncture, and receive referrals from a number of Brisbane Oncologists. I frequently support individuals undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and those in palliative situations. I am grateful and honoured by their trust in such a difficult and challenging time.
