How I work

Whatever it may be, Jade is likely to be able to assist with a treatment strategy for it: Jade looks at the whole picture, which means a thorough consultation to understand whats going on for you. Taking the time to hear your complete medical history means a more thorough understanding of whats going on for you, how you got there, and the creation of an individually tailored treatment plan to have you feeling your best.

Although you will see that there are a number of conditions in which I offer specific clinical focus, this is a generalist practice – in reality, I see people presenting with anxiety, migraines, musculoskeletal, or multiple health conditions, with people in their early teens to their late eighties! (no ninety year olds yet.. one day Im sure). I have clients who I have treated either regularly, or periodically, for the years I have been in clinical practice, for numerous health conditions over their lives. Something I am both honoured and grateful for.

Chinese Medicine diagnosis focuses on the root or cause of your problem, rather than merely symptoms. This means not only great results for you at the time of your treatment, but a good chance of preventing recurrence and longer lasting results. By using the diagnostic tools of an in-depth consultation, pulse, and palpation, we can assess any underlying imbalances and develop a treatment plan specific to your body’s needs.

A combination of both ‘hands on’ practical techniques – such as manual release techniques, Real Acupuncture, cupping and gua sha, or moxibustion (moxa) within the treatment time, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Functional nutrition/ supplementation for your support between sessions, and discussion on various lifestyle, environmental, and self care techniques for you to utilise on your own. This combination of short and long term strategies is more likely to result in real, long term benefits for you to be pain free and feeling your best!

In an Acupuncture treatment, fine, hair thin needles are inserted into the body at specific Acupuncture points*. These acupuncture points will activate, clear, tonify or sedate various aspects of your body functions to improve your health and encourage healing and recovery, specific to your individual pattern of disharmony. We may also find a specific sore spot, as well as these specific Acupuncture points (‘ah shi’ in Chinese Medicine – meaning – ‘ah! thats it!’) which is the trigger point style now being simplified and utilised in ‘dry needling’.

Typically, needles are left for a period of up to 20-30 minutes, but for some purposes, quick, superficial insertion and removal of the needles will be a more appropriate scenario. I use high quality, superfine needles and will discuss and adapt styles specific to your needs and comfort levels.
